This article was very interesting. I found it more interesting when I realized that it was written by my very own writing professor and others. It talked about how to develop strategies that will enhance your writing skills. It also talked about how people from different cultures write and how the change of their environment influence the way they write. I believe this comes from them forcing translation. The article mostly talked about teaching English writing skills in the English language.
In this article, it talked about how papers that is written from different people in different cultures could have the same topic or moral, but can be worded completely different. It can have the same interpretation, however it is completely written differently. One point mentioned in the article that I liked was when they talked about reader responsibilities. They said that as a reader, it is your responsibility to understand the point that the author is trying to get across. The article also gave examples of different writing pieces and then compared them.
I liked this article because I could see where the authors are coming from just by doing the peer reviews in class. The international students worded their sentences different from the way I would have worded mine. However, I could still understand the point that they were trying to make. I could piece together the things that I read. Overall, it was a good writing piece and very thoughtful because it’s something that I always thought about but never thought it would be written by professors.
