This article is basically about the true definition of American food. It talks about how in the early 1900’s highways were starting to come about and so was fast food restaurants such as McDonald’s. This was convenient because this was around the time of the baby boomer and a lot of families were too busy to cook meals. It also talked about how immigrants were coming over to the America’s bringing their customs and traditional foods along with them.
According to the article, it talks about how American food used to consist of farming, however, we don’t farm as much as we used to. Americans sometimes don’t look at food as a way to satisfy your taste buds, according to the article, it says that we use it as a form of entertainment like going on dates, and catching up on old times with friends. It also talked about the vendors at sporting events that walk around selling food. All of this is part of the American culture. This also includes going to the movies and buying popcorn which is traditional in the American culture.
I like the article overall because I always wanted to know the true definition of American food. I see a lot of restaurants that say “Chinese Food” or “Italian Food or “Mexican Food” so what is really American food? I think a mixture of all of these contributes to American food because we all eat it in our everyday lives.
